Actions always have consequences in House of the Dragon (and in any show, really). The actions of Blood and Cheese were always going to have some major consequences for the two of them.

Caution: We’re going into spoilers for House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 2.

At the end of the House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere, the big Blood and Cheese moment from Fire & Blood happened. It doesn’t have the same impact overall, but that doesn’t mean the two can get away with this. Aegon will stop at nothing to find those directly (and indirectly) responsible for the murder of his son.

It didn’t take long to find out what happened to Blood. For Cheese, we had to wait until a little later in the episode. Things don’t turn out great for them.

Blood is immediately captured in House of the Dragon

Aegon gets word that the guards caught one man responsible. A Gold Cloak was seen running through the castle tunnels with the head of Jaehaerys. He was captured and taken to the prison cells.

Aegon pays him a visit, immediately getting information that Daemon paid him and another man to kill Aemond. When that failed, they went after the boy instead.

Who was the other man? Blood couldn’t give a name, but he did say that it was a rat catcher. And this leads to the end of Cheese as well. We can then assume that Blood is killed for his actions, although that’s not seen.

Rat catchers are rounded up in King’s Landing

Aegon wasn’t interested in getting the exact man responsible. He rounds up all the rat catches in King’s Landing. None of them are given a chance to talk, it seems.

While we don’t exactly see how it goes, we can assume that they are all immediately taken for execution and killed. Aegon doesn’t give Blood a chance to identify the exact man responsible for Jaehaerys’s murder. Cheese is among the rat catchers, and we see him hanged from the gates along with the rest of them. I felt for Cheese’s dog in this moment as he looks up at his dead human and whines.

The book never told us what happened to Cheese, but we know he wasn’t caught. However all the rat catchers were rounded up and killed, and they were replaced with cats. This would suggest that he was killed with them, but nobody ever found out if it happened or not.
