Outlander Season 6 will come to Netflix at 12 a.m. PT on Wednesday, May 1. That means it drops at 3 a.m. ET on the same day. It is only a U.S. release, so we don’t need to worry about international time zones for this one.

It was originally going to be 12 episodes. However, the pandemic delayed filming and then there were problems running into Caitriona Balfe’s growing baby bump. There are only so many ways that you can hide a baby bump and still tell an effective story, especially in the world of Outlander. Plus, it’s not like the pregnancy could be written into the story.

So, the production team and Starz agreed to reducing the episode order to eight. The remaining four episodes were added onto Outlander Season 7, making that 16 episodes long—split in two halves.

What to expect in Outlander Season 6

The story picks up after the events of Season 5. Jamie had rescued Claire from her captors and rapists in the Season 5 finale, and that trauma is something that plays on Claire’s mind throughout the season. At the same time, a person from Jamie’s Ardsmuir past turns up. We meet Tom Christie and his children, and they all bring trouble.

The people of Fraser’s Ridge have to deal with a lot of issues, including a bloody flux, murder, and the threat of the Revolutionary War on their doorstep. Meanwhile, Roger figures out what he wants to do with his life, and Fergus and Marsali welcome a new addition into their family, but it’s not without it’s complications.
