The Witcher Season 5 will be the last of the Netflix series

There are a few Netflix shows that Outlander fans use to get through Droughtlander. The Witcher was one of them, but now there’s bad news about that one.

The Witcher is more fantasy than period drama, but it is set in the past. To be honest, Outlander has a mixture of fantasy and historical fiction, so it makes sense that fans will turn to similar shows to get through the breaks. Plus, The Witcher had Henry Cavill who helped to lure people in.

The Witcher will come to an end with Season 5

Just ahead of the third season, Netflix announced that Cavill was leaving the series. Rather than end it there, Liam Hemsworth joined the cast and took over the role of Geralt of Rivia. We’re still waiting to see him step into that role, as it won’t happen until Season 4.

However, along with Season 4 being picked up, there were a lot of signs that Season 5 would happen. Now we know that it definitely will, but that it will be the last. It looks like everything has been set up with enough time to make the fifth season the last.

This decision may not be that surprising to many. For one, a major cast change tends to bring the end of the season. There were a lot of unhappy people hearing that Hemsworth would replace Cavill. A second point is that the show has not followed the source material (a reason Cavill reportedly stepped away from the series) and there are no intentions of going back to it. So, this led to a few fans walking away.

When will The Witcher Season 5 come to Netflix?

The fourth season is currently in production. We’re not likely to see this season until 2025 due to the length of time it takes to film and post-produce the show. If Season 5 starts up production as soon as Season 4 ends, we could see the fifth season arrive in 2026. However, we may need to wait until 2027.

What we do know is that the series promises a fitting conclusion to the story.
