Phillipa Gregory has written numerous fictional books about people who lived through the Wars of the Roses. The White Princess takes us through to the start of the Tudor period, with Elizabeth of York marrying Henry Tudor to unite the houses.

You can watch the series on Starz right now. However, there will be another way to watch the limited series from August. The series is heading to BritBox.

BritBox is the home of all things British, and there are many other fictional and non-fictional period programs to check out. The White Princess drops on Tuesday, Aug. 20 in full.

What is The White Princess about?

As mentioned, the series follows Elizabeth of York. The Battle of Bosworth has come to an end, with Richard III killed and the White Roses left humiliated. Henry Tudor has now claimed the throne of England, but his first task is to unite the houses of Lancaster and York.

The best way to do that is to marry Elizabeth of York. After all, he is the Lancastrian heir, and Elizabeth is the daughter of the late York King Edward IV. Together, they can unite the whole of England and bring an end to the Wars of the Roses.

It’s not really what either of them want, though. Of course, this is the 15th century. What they want doesn’t really matter. It’s all about duty and honor. That isn’t going to stop Elizabeth of York from stepping out on her own and making herself a Queen Consort to admire.

History tells us that Henry VII of England loved his wife, and The White Princess shows us the journey to that love. We also get Elizabeth having to make a choice when a man claiming to be her brother, Richard of Shrewsbury, turns up. Will she put her family or her country first?
