Now try The White Princess on STARZ

If you love shows set during the Tudor period, you’ll want to look at the couple that started that reign. It’s all about King Henry VII and his wife Elizabeth of York. The two would bring an end to the Wars of the Roses, and they would stick by each other when necessary.

This marriage was not one of love at first. It may have turned into one of love, and that’s something this series takes a look at. We see how Elizabeth and Henry learned how to tolerate each other and use each other’s strengths for their own gains. They also ended up putting their family before everything else with the aim of creating the Tudor Dynasty. Now if only Henry VIII didn’t destroy that!

The White Princess is available to stream on STARZ.

Finish off with The Great

Finally, we turn to a series that does not take itself seriously. While it is based on history, it’s extremely loosely based on it. The series has always made it clear that this is satire and shouldn’t be taken as a history lesson.

That being said, the acting is great and the storylines are hilarious. We get a story of a woman who marries to be the Russian consort only to realize that she’s married a tyrant. Yes, we get the story of how Catherine the Great came to Russia and her life before she became the Queen of Russia we all know her as now.

The Great is available on Hulu.
