Turn to Seize Them! for a fun film
How about something that won’t take up weeks of your time? You just want a movie that brings laughter and fun. Seize Them! is the historical fiction to turn to.
Aimee Lou Wood stars in this one as a queen who is overthrown. It’s set in the Dark Ages of England, and Queen Dagan ends up forced to dress as a commoner and figure out a way to get her castle back. The problem is nobody in the country likes her. If they find out she’s the queen, she risks losing her life.
This is a fun period drama that isn’t based on real history. The trailer gives it a bit of a feel of The Great when it comes to the style of comedy to expect.
Seize Them! is out on Friday, April 5.
Finish off with The Sympathizer
A lot of period dramas tend to focus on European history. There is a lot of it, after all. Well, there is something that is a little more recent and focuses on U.S. history. This one takes place toward the end of the Vietnam War.
The Sympathizer follows a spy who was embedded into the South Vietnam Army by the North Vietnam Army. He flees to the United States to take up refuge. While there, he continues to gather intelligence against the Americans to send back to the Viet Cong. This one man is torn between loyalty and his new community.
This is another comedy-drama series, and it is based on the novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen. It’s also based on a true story.
The Sympathizer will premiere on Max on Sunday, April 14.
