Will we see more of Jocasta in Outlander?
We got to see Maria Doyle Kennedy return as Jocasta Cameron during Outlander Season 6. Fans would love to see her back before the end of the series, but is that going to happen?
We need to turn to the book storyline to find out what happens to Jocasta at this point. After all, the last we heard about Jocasta, she was making comments about the gold. That was a little nugget to help with the Season 7 storyline of the Bugs taking the gold and Murdina Bug dying because of it.
The Revolutionary War is in full swing in the world of Outlander. This caused some major problems for those who were loyal to the Crown, and that includes Jocasta.
What happened to Jocasta Cameron in the Outlander books?
We hear about Jocasta in A Breath of Snow and Ashes, the sixth book in the series. She and Duncan Innes have to flee River Run. They head north to Nova Scotia, which is where we find out that the MacKenzie family from Leoch fled to after the Battle of Culloden.
We don’t get to see Jocasta again in the books. At least, not just yet. There is still another book in the works, so there is a chance that we could see her pop up in the future.
What about the TV series? Well, there hasn’t been a mention of River Run just yet. Instead of telling us the story, the series could opt to show us. We could see Jocasta run into the Frasers or the MacKenzies at some point as they flee River Run for Nova Scotia. This would allow for us to see Maria Doyle Kennedy one last time before the series comes to an end.
However, it’s possible that the show will just tell us something if it is that important. There isn’t going to be a lot of time to show a lot of storylines, and we’re already seeing some bigger characters from Written in My Own Heart’s Blood missing, including Dottie Grey. It’s a shame for show fans not to see beloved characters before Outlander ends, but the focus has to be on what makes sense for the overall story.
