Droughtlander is a great time to watch these 5 sci-fi shows

We’re in the middle of another Droughtlander. That means looking for things to watch. Of course, you could stick to reruns of Outlander, but don’t you want to explore new worlds and new characters? I know I do!

Outlander covers many genres. With the time travel aspect of it, we head into the sci-fi genre. So, with that in mind, we’re opting for sci-fi shows for this post. If you want period dramas, we have a post for you too. We also have one for time travel dramas, and we’ll try to avoid any crossover.

You need to binge Doctor Who

Let’s start with one of the biggest sci-fi shows going. It’s the longest-running sci-fi series, airing its 60th anniversary specials at the end of 2023. Yes, there was a long break, but the show picked up with a revival rather than a reboot in 2005. So, the show continues.

You need to go back to the very beginning for a full understanding. However, starting over with Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor will be a good start. You’ll get the story of The Doctor and his companion traveling to different planets, time periods, and more. While there, they have a mystery to solve and people to save—as well as themselves!

They do it all in a TARDIS, which stands for Time and Relative Dimensions in Space. It’s much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, and it wasn’t always a blue police box.

Watch the classic series on BritBox and the revival on Disney+.
