If there is one thing we know, it’s that series finales don’t always live up to expectations. There is a concern about the Outlander series finale.
Sam Heughan talked with The Herald about the upcoming final season of our beloved series. One thing he pointed out was that the series probably won’t end the way that everyone wants it to. Not all the questions will be answered—and he may be indicating that the questions about the ghost won’t come up in the final season but will be answered in the book.
Heughan even went as far to say that he doesn’t think he’ll get what he wants. He wants to warn fans to lower expectations for the Outlander series finale.
"We will have to end it some way. Perhaps not a way that the books end it. I am pushing for a different ending."
The Outlander series finale will still be satisfactory
This isn’t to say that the series finale will be badly written. It’s more that it will not end in the way that the book series will. While Diana Gabaldon once promised that the TV series wouldn’t get to the end before she did like Game of Thrones did, that has turned out to be something she couldn’t hold by. The TV series is ending with eight seasons despite there being 10 books.
The ending will end things for the TV series. We can see some of that hope with the recent leaked photos, as it’s clear that the ending to Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone isn’t going to be the ending of the series. The ninth book left things on a cliffhanger for many characters, and the final season of the TV series will need to wrap that up if the full story is used. It does look like that will be the case.
Most fans just want closure. They also want to see a calmness at the end for Claire and Jamie. Nobody wants to see the Frasers die at the end, even though we all know that people die of old age! We just want to see a calm and happy ending for all.
Outlander Season 7B premieres on Starz on Friday, Nov. 22.
