The Winchesters

How about a prequel story about the parents of the Winchesters from Supernatural? This short-lived prequel series followed a story that seemed to break canon at first. After all, we learned that John Winchester never knew anything about hunting until after Mary’s death. The Winchesters changed that.

And so, we got an epic love story between Mary and John as they hunted monsters and figured out where Mary’s father had disappeared to. On top of that, we learned just how the story had changed. It made a lot of sense.

While this series was only one season, it worked as one season. The necessary answers to feel like the story was complete were offered in what became the series finale. It certainly makes this series worth the watch.

Outlander

We have to end with an epic love story. You see, this isn’t just a romance show. It’s fantasy, historical fiction, family drama, and so much more.

The series starts with Claire Randall in 1945 Scotland. She’s there with her husband Frank on her second honeymoon as they reconnect after years apart due to World War II. One day, she accidentally falls through time and finds herself stuck in 1743 Scotland. There she meets Jamie Fraser, and their epic love story begins.

Over the course of the last six and a half seasons, we’ve followed various characters and love stories. There is also heart break, war, family drama, and more to deal with.
