Outlander and Game of Thrones have clashed before, seeing some of the same actors in the two shows. The latest connection is in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Henry Ashton is joining the prequel series. He is joining the series with a character name that sounds familiar to those who have watched House of the Dragon, but it’s not the same character. Let’s take a look at what we know.

Henry Ashton was in Outlander Season 7A

If you’re wondering where you’ve seen Ashton before, it’s in two episodes of Outlander Season 7A. He played Sandy Hammond, who was a friend of William Ransom in the military. We watched as Sandy faced a heartbreaking end, suddenly killed in action right next to William.

You will also recognize him from My Lady Jane, where he played Stan Dudley, the eldest son of Lord Dudley, who Jane initially thought she would have to marry. He hasn’t just stuck to historical fiction, though. He also took on the role of Max Hastings in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder on Netflix.

Meet Daeron the Drunken in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Ashton will play Daeron in the new Game of Thrones prequel, and yes, you will recognize that name from House of the Dragon. Daeron Targaryen is the youngest son of Alicent and Viserys, but it’s not this character we will see in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. That Daeron is “The Daring.” The Daeron Targaryen Ashton will play is “The Drunken.”

As you can imagine, this Daeron enjoys drinking, which is why he has the nickname he does. He is the firstborn son of King Maekar I Targaryen, which makes him the heir to the Seven Kingdoms. However, Daeron isn’t that much of an heir or a warrior. He’s known to have some prophetic dreams, which connects him to Helaena Targaryen in House of the Dragon and Bryden Rivers, the Three-Eyed Raven.

There is no release date for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms just yet. It is slated to arrive sometime in 2025.
