Bree and Roger reunite in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 97

It’s time for Brianna to head back to the Brumby’s house in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 97. There is a bit of a story that happens on the way, and part of it involves Roger.

John Cinnamon stays behind for William to escort Brianna back to the Brumby house. On the way, they pull aside for some mourners, and it brings up some of the devastating causalities of the war. Bree can’t help but think of her own children when she sees the two smaller dead bodies.

This is also a chance for Bree and William to talk a little more. There’s a beautiful moment where William starts to call Lord John Grey his father. Bree notes that Jamie wouldn’t mind this, and despite everything that Jamie is feeling toward Lord John Grey right now, Bree is right.

The chapter ends with Bree and Roger being reunited. There’s a sense of calm in the ending.

I do see a little bit of foreshadowing in the chapter. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section of the post.

As for the adaptation, we could see this being used. I do suspect that we’ll see Bree and Roger in Savannah, although maybe not for the exact same reasons. I’ll get to my thoughts on this in the adaptation section.
