Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire in her garden talking to her bees. That’s when John Quincy Myers turns up. This time, he has a special delivery. It’s Germain, Joanie, and Felicite. Where are Fergus, Marsali, and the twins? They are still in Wilmington.

Claire and Jamie also get a letter from Fergus, who says that he wanted Marsali to leave with the children. She wouldn’t, so she and the twins are still with him. However, it’s “healthier” for the kids to get some mountain air.

It takes a few days, but Claire realizes that Germain has likely told Fanny everything. After all, Germain, who is now hitting puberty, has a soft spot for Fanny. Sure enough, Fanny shares that Germain helped Fergus foil an attack on the printshop. Fergus decided to stay behind because he has a duty to print the Word of Freedom. Marsali stayed with him.

Fergus has support from the Sons of Liberty. However, Claire and Jamie would feel much better if the whole family was back at the Ridge. They do understand why Fergus believes he needs to do what he’s doing, though.
