Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with everyone arriving where the battle is supposed to take part. It’s all set up the way that Frank’s book describes, making it clear that Frank is right so far. This is a sign of things to come.

Jamie tells Roger to stay with Claire. He wants them both to stay behind. He and Young Ian will head into battle. However, it’s clear that Roger and Claire will not do as they’re told. They follow.

We get to see some of this from Roger’s point of view, who has already read Frank’s book. He wants to help save Jamie in anyway that he can. He also wants to be there for the men who will fall, and that means being in the middle of the battle at times.

Roger thinks of a wooden cross that Jamie gives him. Jamie then touches the cross and asks Roger to pray for him. It’s not like Roger isn’t praying for his father-in-law. He’s been praying for all the men as they go into battle. I think as much as he would love to think that Frank would lie, he knows that isn’t the case. There isn’t a chance that Frank would get away with lying as a historian.
