Claire and Jamie head to Kings Mountain in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 143

We knew it was coming, and here it is. Outlander Book 9, Chapter 143 sees Claire and Jamie head out to Kings Mountain.

There is a lot of weight to this chapter. We know what’s to come, and we know just how badly it could turn out. After all, Claire notes how ill-prepared the rebels are. They also don’t like Claire.

This chapter then goes into Jamie’s discussion he recently had with Mandy, where she has shared what she and Jem can hear. That includes animals and Claire a little. We get a little bit of information about Davy as Jamie shares what he would like Claire to do should something happen to him on the battlefield.

This chapter certainly foreshadows a lot. I feel like it’s getting ready for the 10th book, though, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

I do see this chapter being used in the TV series. The conversations in it are important for various members of the family. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into the chapter of Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.
