Just the Outlander chapter

William makes it to Philadelphia, which is where he finds Amaranthus. She has headed to her father’s bookshop, as she said she would. Her father doesn’t want William to speak with her at first, but agrees to William coming back the next day.

Overnight, William thinks about what to do. He was only tasked with seeing that Amaranthus was safe. He doesn’t have to bring her back. Hal and John have always said not to go into a situation without knowing what you want to achieve from it, so what does William want from this? He doesn’t really know.

When he sees her the next day, he sees her dressed in black with her wedding ring on her right hand. She looks as if she’s a widow, and William asks about his cousin. Amaranthus shares that she went to see Ben, where she found him in bed with another woman. To make it worse, he is married to that woman.

William asks Amaranthus to marry him. It won’t be in name only. He wants her. Amaranthus doesn’t give him an answer, and William tells her that she can think about this and give him an answer on the way back to Savannah. It looks like he’s taking her back there.
