Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is a small bit of foreshadowing in this chapter when it comes to the pouch. That spark is a clear sign that Claire is coming into her powers. She will be able to heal with her hands soon.

Most of the chapter is setting up the plot, though. I do think there is more to Ulysses getting the documents. It’s fitting that it’s him considering he already knows a lot about the Frasers. It was only a matter of time Jamie being Catholic would come up. I suspect that there is someone more dangerous than the new Governor of Virginia involved in this, though.

Adapting the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter

I don’t see this chapter being used in the TV series. Part of it is that there isn’t the time. Another part is that the TV series adapted Ulysses slightly differently to the books. We didn’t get the darker side of Ulysses. We know that he loved Jocasta, but the show never really showed that Jocasta felt the same way for him.

Also, Ulysses’s exit was slightly different. After killing Forbes, Lord John Grey agreed to take him in. He understood that Ulysses acted in defense of Jocasta. He was heading back to England at the time, and we were left to believe that Ulysses went there. Of course, things could change, but with so much going on elsewhere, it makes sense that this chapter won’t be included as it would be a backtrack on the character we’ve come to know in the show.
