After everything that has happened recently, Jamie certainly needs to get his militia ready. He has a new person join it in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 122.

The chapter starts with Hiram Crombie coming to see Jamie. This reminds us all that Hiram wanted to speak to Jamie the night at the Lodge. There are also a few other things to discuss. The biggest thing is about Cyrus, and it’s not for him to court Fanny.

Instead, Hiram wants Jamie to take Cyrus into his militia. This is important to show that Hiram and his family stand with Jamie, and Jamie accepts this. Of course, Cyrus isn’t all that ready to join the militia, but Jamie is patient and teaches him calvary drills along with the rest of the men.

It’s the end of the chapter we love the most. The MacKenzies are back home.

I feel like this chapter foreshadows what the Murrays returning foreshadows. There’s this sense of safety for Jamie and Claire now that more of the family is back on the Ridge. Now if only Fergus was there.

As for the adaptation, I think we may see some of this but not all of it. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone Chapter 122.
