Lord John Grey learns the truth about Ben in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 118

We head back to William in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 118. He is back in Savannah, and it’s time to share the full truth.

William comes across Amaranthus first, and he wants to get some of the story from her. Just how much did she know and how complicit was she in the tale? She makes it clear that she wanted a coward over a rebel, and she is concerned about Ben’s safety.

Of course, William has no choice but to tell the Greys the truth. They deserve to know what happened to Ben, especially that he is still alive. Hal needs to know that to put his mind at rest. Lord John Grey is the one to find out the truth first. Naturally, John is angry at all the lies that Amaranthus has told, believing that she is after money.

Has John finally figured it out? I always thought he was too trusting of Amaranthus upon meeting her. This chapter seems to foreshadow that he is going to head on a journey to figure out who she really is. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing section.

Will the chapter be used, though? I think some of it will be, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter.
