The Sachem has questions for Claire in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 117
We spend some time with the Sachem and Claire in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 117. This is a chance to talk about death.
It turns out that the Sachem came with the Murrays. It’s clear that he has some sort of interest in Jenny, and she seems to have an interest in him, too. However, this chapter isn’t about that. It’s about the Sachem’s interest in Claire.
It turns out that he wants to hear about her thoughts on death and how the dead attach themselves to the living. Claire believes that they do have an interest in the living, and she’s not too put off at the fact that Ian shared that she is a time traveler. I guess when it comes to the Native Americans and their beliefs, she doesn’t have to worry too much.
This is a great chapter to connect to past moments. It’s a great way to learn more about beliefs and experiences. However, I don’t see too much in the way of foreshadowing except when it comes to the Sachem and Jenny. I think the Frank parts are more plot development than foreshadowing.
Will it be used in the TV series? I don’t really think so, and I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the adaptation section.
Let’s dive into the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter.
