Jamie realizes his mistake in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 114

Jamie certainly made a mistake sending Claire with Esterhazy in Outlander Book 9, Chapter 114. Of course, nobody was to know this since Esterhazy and Bembridge were supposed to be friends.

All’s fair in love and war, right? Well, Jamie doesn’t think so. He’s needs to send someone with Esterhazy to find Bembridge, and the best option is Claire. Jamie can’t spare any men, and Bembridge is probably in need of medical attention. Claire is the only person who can help there.

So, off the two go. It’s only when they find Bembridge that things take a turn for the worse. The full truth finally comes out.

Fanny shares that Agnes is pregnant. She’s slept with both Esterhazy and Bembridge, and recently turned down Esterhazy’s proposal. Agnes is possibly pregnant with Bembridge’s child, and she wants to marry him. This has led to a fight between the two friends. Is it possible that Esterhazy wants to make sure his former friend is dead?

That certainly seems to be possible when we go back to Claire and Esterhazy. Esterhazy attacks Claire and then goes to attack Bembridge. However, Bembridge is still alive enough to defend himself.

This chapter is full of drama. It’s clear that it’s going to help develop another plot with Agnes and her baby. I’ll get to my thoughts on that in the foreshadowing chapter.

Will it be used in the TV series? This part I’m not too sure. I’ll get to my thoughts on how it could be used in the adaptation section.

Let’s dive into the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter.
