Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I get a sense that this chapter foreshadows that Frank is wrong, but not because he’s actually wrong. I think it foreshadows that Jamie is able to change his fate. He refuses to allow it to happen, and by knowing what the future brings, he can take steps to prepare and make sure he survives.

However, the blessing that Jamie says and realizing that he has received them all does seem to foreshadow that Frank’s writing is right. Is there a way to save Jamie from his fate?

We know that Jamie does actually die at the battle. It’s Claire’s abilities—and not just medical ones—that save him. Frank couldn’t have accounted for that to happen!

Adapting Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone

I suspect that this chapter will be used in the TV series. I’m not sure if Jamie will go up himself or take someone with him to explain things, but I think it will happen in some way. We need to see Jamie get a lay of the land.

This is a huge part of the book. There’s no way around including the Battle of Kings Mountain and the events that follow. A lot of the show has been leading up to these events. We also need to see Jamie decide that Frank is going to be wrong, but that Frank does turn out right…sort of.

So yes, this is one of those chapters that I think we’ll see in some sort of way.
