Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with William setting off on the journey to find Dottie. We learn that it is winter, so the war fronts are starting to slow down. The soldiers are getting ready to deal with the winter weather and will pick up the war later. This makes it a little safer for William to travel.

However, the winter weather will make the journey difficult. The quickest way is through Charles Town, but it is going to be difficult. William made it clear to John and Hal that he will get to Dottie as quickly as possible.

He is under orders to bring her back, regardless of what Dottie wants to do. William think about the last time he got in an argument with a Quaker. That was Rachel, which brings some bittersweet thoughts considering he lost out on her to Young Ian.

Now his thoughts move onto Amaranthus, who he clearly has feelings for. He starts to think about Dottie and Amaranthus’s children, and that leads to him thinking of having a son of his own. The thought of that is both exciting and terrifying, making it clear that he would like a child of his own but he doesn’t think he is ready for that just yet.

And so, the journey goes on with William thinking about his time with Amaranthus before he left.
