While Miss Scarlet and the Duke has been renewed, it will now just be Miss Scarlet. Her Duke is going to America, and that means a new detective needs to come into the story. That detective will be played by Tom Durant Pritchard.
TVLine shared the news of the casting, letting us know that he will play Detective Inspector Alexander Blake, who will replace William “The Duke” Wellington as he heads off to America. It will bring in a lot of change for Eliza, and it’s not all going to be good change.
How will Eliza react to the new detective in Miss Scarlet?
At first, Eliza is excited about the change. She learns that Blake is not all that surprised by female private detectives. It looks like he has worked with them before. So, does that mean she’ll have more cases to work through?
It means the opposite. Blake doesn’t want any private detectives to aid his investigations. This has nothing to do with her gender or the time period. It’s simply a matter of a cop wanting to keep his own focus on the investigation.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he gets his way. Eliza will continue to investigate, but she won’t get any information from Blake. The two will need to learn to co-exist. This could lead to Blake realizing that she can help, but there’s no guarantee.
It sounds like sparks could fly, though.
When will Miss Scarlet Season 5 come to PBS?
Despite the title change, this is still considered the fifth season of the series. It is currently in production in Belgrade, Serbia.
There is a good chance that we’ll see the fifth season arrive in 2025. This is a show that has managed to bring us a season every year or so. The only time there was a two-year break between seasons was right at the start and that was linked to the pandemic shutting down filming around the world. There’s no reason to think that we won’t see the fifth season at the start of 2025.
Miss Scarlet is available to stream on PBS.
