Lucy Lawless joins Outlander vet and more in Spartacus: House of Ashur
While Lucy Lawless is best known as Xena in Xena: Warrior Princess, she is also well known for another historical drama franchise. She played Lucretia in various Spartacus shows. Now she is making a return to the universe.
Starz will bring fans another show within the franchise. This one takes a look at a “what if” storyline. What if Ashur didn’t die at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? What if he was gifted Bariatus’s Ludus instead after helping to bring an end to the slave rebellion?
That’s what we get to see play out in the new Starz series. And it means some familiar faces need to return.
Lucy Lawless will return in Spartacus: House of Ashur
Lawless took on the role of Lucretia in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. She then reprised that role in the prequel series Gods of the Arena, and now she’s back again. Lucretia was the wife of Batiatus, played by John Hannah.
It looks like Lucretia is going to be the one to pass on the torch. She is only in the series in a guest-starring capacity, which suggests that she will only be there for the premiere episode to set up this alternate reality, according to Deadline.
Outlander vet and more part of new Spartacus series
Along with Lawless, there are a few other actors part of the series, according to another article from Deadline. One of those is Outlander’s Graham McTavish, who will play Korris, a former gladiator who won his freedom in the arena. He is now Ashur’s Doctore, training other gladiators.
He Is joined by:
Tenika Davis as Achillia
Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara
Ivana Baquero as Messia
Jordi Webber as Tarchon
Claudia Black as Cossutia
India Shaw-Smith as Viridia
Leigh Gill as Satyrus
Eyes are on whether any of the other OG characters will return. It’s unlikely, except for maybe a character or two in the premiere to join Lawless. This miniseries looks to be set with a new cast to give us a new alternate story. It’s perfect for a Sliding Doors moment in the franchise.
