Claire is just one of the inspirational women in Outlander

Outlander has certainly had some inspirational women throughout the seasons. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re taking a look at the ones who stand out.

Of course, we’ll have to start with Claire Fraser. She is a woman who certainly doesn’t belong in the 18th century, but she makes it work. However, over the course of six and a half seasons, we’ve seen some great women from both the 18th century and the 20th century who we can look up to.

Now, some of these women don’t always go about things in the right way. That doesn’t stop them from having something to look up to when it comes to their personalities.

Claire Fraser

Of course, we do have to start with the woman who started the series off. Claire is a woman who travels through time and makes it work. Yes, she has her moments where she can’t wrap her head around 18th century living—mostly the rules and superstitions—but she does fit in as best as possible. She also works with what she has to make life better for the people of the time.

We have seen Claire go to hell and back throughout the seasons. She has been abducted, raped, beaten, and sentenced to death more times than we can count. She hasn’t quite learned her lesson when it comes to going off on her own, but then she tries to put the lives of others first before her own at times.

She is a survivor. This isn’t just in terms of what she’s been through, but in general. Look at how she handled the forest after jumping off the ship. When it comes to women to look up to, Claire is the first that will come to mind for many.
