It is almost time to pick a side. House of the Dragon Season 2 will arrive on HBO in June. We have an exact date!

We had suspected June based on a few comments. We already knew that the show would arrive in the summer, when there were some comments about it coming in Q2. That meant that June was the only likely premiere month.

Well, HBO has not disappointed. The Game of Thrones prequel series, which is going to really bring us the Targaryen civil war after the first season buildup, is going to arrive very soon.

When will House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere?

HBO confirms that House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, June 16. The episodes will air on HBO at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans will be able to watch it on Max that day, and they will be able to stream it on Max after that whenever they want.

As well as sharing the premiere date, TVLine also included the trailer for the new season. It makes it clear that Aegon is fighting to keep the throne, but Rhaenyra is not going to make that easy. She is after revenge after the events at the end of the first season, which saw her son lose his life after he and his dragon went down in a fight trying to get away from Storm’s End. Aegon’s brother, Aemond, went after Lucerys and couldn’t keep control of Vhagar in the air.

House of the Dragon Season 2 will have eight episodes, a little shorter than the 10 episodes in Season 1. We’ll get the episodes on a weekly basis, with the likely finale date being Sunday, Aug. 4, unless there is a week off for some reason. HBO doesn’t tend to do that, though.
