After a season of visions, Daemon seemed to get his last one in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale. He saw what was to come, realizing that he needed to bend the knee to Rhaenyra. Did that vision also tell him how he would die?

During the vision, we watched as Daemon fell forward after seeing a dead dragon on the ground. He seemed to fall into water, and it looked like he was being pulled down deep. What did this part of the vision mean?

Will Daemon drown in House of the Dragon?

It certainly looks like Daemon will end up in a watery grave in House of the Dragon. The vision showed him in water, being pullled down deep. He didn’t seem to fight against the pull, suggesting that he may have been dead or unconscious as he hit the water. While he eyes were open, this could just be the fact that he was seeing this in his own vision.

For Daemon to drown, it means a fight is coming. Of course, fans want to know who he will go up against for this to happen, and the book tells us.

How does Daemon die in Fire & Blood?

Daemon Targaryen does potentially meet a watery end in Fire & Blood. He and Caraxes go up against Aemond and Vhagar. This is when Helaena’s vision takes place. She told Aemond that he would die and lost in the God’s Eye. Well, he’s not the only one.

Daemon and Caraxes also go down in this fight. Daemon’s body is never recovered, and there are some who believe that Daemon managed to get out of this alive but decided not to return to Westeros. Some believe that he fled to Essos and lived under another name. This wouldn’t make sense to most Fire & Blood readers, but it could make sense for House of the Dragon viewers.

In Fire & Blood, we’re led to believe that Daemon still wanted the crown while fighting for Rhaenyra. In House of the Dragon, we see him bend the knee after the vision. It’s like he’s realized that the crown isn’t for him after all. This could allow him to go off to Essos in secret, allowing everyone to believe that he’s dead to live a different type of life.

It still doesn’t make sense to me from what we know of Daemon, so I choose to believe that he does drown in the fight against Aemond. The vision in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale seems to confirm it.
