Game of Thrones fans have constantly jumped between characters when it comes to theories about the Prince Who Was Promised prophecy. It seems like House of the Dragon has just confirmed who it was supposed to be all along.

Throughout Game of Thrones, we knew that it was likely Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen who was the Prince Who Was Promised. For the longest time, though, it was always Jon. It was only toward the end that fans started to wonder if it could be Dany.

There have been a few reasons why Dany made sense. She wasn’t burned at all in the fire that hatched her eggs, and she was the only person to have a real connection to three dragons, although she only rode one. She also united people along the way as she made her way to Westeros to claim the Iron Throne, and her dragons were able to cross the Wall.

Daemon’s visions in House of the Dragon seem to confirm the theory

In the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale, Daemon had a vision that took us through Aegon’s dream. We saw the White Walkers, and we got to see Daenerys and her three hatched dragons.

It would seem like Daemon’s visions made it clear that Daenerys was the Prince Who Was Promised. According to Forbes, showrunner Ryan Condal says that this vision was not a way to confirm the theory at all. It was just a connection via the dragons.

After all, it is A Song of Ice and Fire. That is the name of the vision passed from generation to generation in the Targeryen family. They know that a Targeryen will need to go up against the icy death North of the Wall. This could be Daenerys, but there is still the possibility that Jon Snow is the Prince Who Was Promised.

The best thing about House of the Dragon is that there are some elements that are simply infered. They will take on different meanings to people, and that’s the way we can play with this vision. It’s not all set in stone, and as Helaena says, “it’s all a story.” Everyone has a part to play. Daenerys would eventually have her part, and that’s what this vision was about.
