Did four deaths happen in House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 4?

It is clear that two deaths happened in House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 4. There was no escape. What about two other characters? Are they dead, too?

The Battle at Rook’s Rest took place in the new episode. Those who have read Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin knew that this would be a bloody and devastating moment. It would bring a major loss for Team Black, which is exactly what happened.

Rhaenys took Meleys to Rook’s Rest, where things seemed to go her way. Both Vhagar and Meleys were flying away from each other after the attack on Sunfyre. However, Rhaenys ordered Meleys to turn back and attack. This had to be done. It’s war!

Rhaenys and Meleys didn’t survive in House of the Dragon

There was no way Rhaenys could survive the fall. We watched as Vhagar crushed Meleys’s neck, with the light disappearing from Meleys’s eyes. It was a sad watch for sure. Yes, these ae CGI dragons, but they have their own stories in this series. It’s like when dogs and horses die in shows. We care more about the animals than the people.

With Meleys thousands of feet in the air, there was no chance Rhaenys could survive that, and she knew it. She accepted her death as a deceased Meleys fell from the ground. There was the huge fiery explosion at the end, giving us an understanding as to how Rhaenys’s body will end up a burned out mess.

What about Aegon and Sunfyre in House of the Dragon?

While we know two characters died, there were two others involved in the Battle at Rook’s Rest. Aemond and Vhagar got away unharmed, but the same can’t be said for Aegon and Sunfyre. They both fell to the ground earlier in the battle.

It looks like they’re dead. If you know the books, you know that’s not the case. They are severely injured, though.

Aegon took the brunt of Vhagar’s fire before going down. He’s in metal armour, which suggests he’s going to face major burns. He should also have multiple broken bones considering the fall.

Meleys had done some major damage to Sunfyre, grabbing his wing at the joint. It didn’t look like the wing was completely ripped off, but it would be irreparably damaged. This is a major blow for Team Green.
