Back in 2021, The CW brought a period drama that focused on the life of Leonardo da Vinci. There’s no doubt that there was interest in Leonardo for those who love period dramas, and fans want more.

The series follows Leonardo da Vinci’s life and work. It also brought us a look at his personal struggles, which are often overlooked when talking about his work. After all, people are more intrigued by the artist’s curiosity about science and technology at a time when so little was known.

Of course, fans want to know more. It helped that Aidan Turner led the series, and who doesn’t want more Aidan Turner on their screens?

Leonardo Season 2 isn’t in the works

It’s bad news for fans, though. After years of wondering about the series, TVLine has been able to confirm that there will definitely not be a second season of the series. In fact, the talks of Season 2 happening were just rumors. Nothing was ever officially ordered.

For once, this isn’t linked to The CW’s strange decisions and constant changes. Instead, this is linked to the international producers.

There was somewhat of a closed ending to the first season of the series. This does work as a series finale, but it would have been great to see more to the story. One of the issues some fans did have with the show was the lack of historical accuracy for the drama, but aren’t we used to that with most historical fiction now? There’s a reason it’s historical “fiction.”

There is another series that is focused on the artist’s life, also called Leonardo, with Jonathan Bailey playing the titular role. That show does have two seasons, so watch out for the confusion there!

You can get both versions of the story via Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, and more.
