Daemon being the Night King is a House of the Dragon fan theory that doesn't make sense

There are plenty of fan theories about House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. While many have come true, there are some that simply don't make sense. Daemon being the Night King is one of those that doesn't work.

There are plenty of fan theories in the world of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Some of them make sense, and they even came true in the world of Game of Thrones. Others certainly don’t make sense at all.

During House of the Dragon Season 1, fans took to Reddit to share their theory that Daemon is the Night King. This comes from the fact that Daemon looks a little like he could be the Night King and that Daemon ends up going missing—his body is never recovered in the book, suggesting that Daemon disappears.

Daemon being the Night King didn’t make sense at the time, but the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale has made it clear that this cannot be true.

Game of Thrones already showed us the making of the Night King

We just have to look at Game of Thrones to see how the Night King was made. The Children of the Forest created the Night King from the First Men, as a way to protect themselves. In the end, it caused issues for themselves and for the rest of the world.

The First Men were around long before the Targaryens made it to Westeros. Daemon is around 100 years after Aegon’s Conquest. So, the idea that Daemon is the Night King cannot make sense, and we saw that the First Man turned into the Night King was not Daemon Targaryen.

House of the Dragon has shown Daemon the vision

We know that Aegon the Conqueror had the dream of the White Walkers and the Prince Who Was Promised. This is a dream that has been passed down from King to heir throughout the Targaryen reign, with Rhaenyra recently telling Jacaerys about it. When she met with Alicent, she told her that the Prince Who Was Promised was a “story,” making it clear that Alicent misheard Viserys’s last mumblings.

Then in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale, Daemon had a vision. He saw a white walker and Daenerys Targaryen. It looks like he saw Aegon’s dream, so he now knows that there is death beyond The Wall.

Daemon is not the Night King. It’s time to put that fan theory to rest.
