3 characters we don't expect to return in House of the Dragon Season 3

House of the Dragon Season 3 is officially happening. With some epic moments in the second season, there are a few characters we won't see return. Here are three we shouldn't expect to see at all.

We know with a show like House of the Dragon there are going to be deaths. That’s especially the case when we have the Dance of the Dragons. A war between dragons is a bloody one.

Season 2 saw the end of some fan-favorites. It also saw the end of characters who we didn’t get to know or really care about. House of the Dragon Season 3 is happening, and these characters aren’t going to make it through.

Here are three not to expect in House of the Dragon Season 3. Of course, the show has brought back deceased characters in Season 2, but we don’t expect more of those visions in Season 3. We hope there won’t be any more!

The Cargyll twins

Okay, this is two characters, but we’re counting them as one. As expected, the Cargyll twins fought to the death in House of the Dragon Season 2. Arryk pretended to be his brother Erryk to get into the Dragonstone castle so that he could kill Rhaenyra. That didn’t go as planned.

Mysaria realized that something was off when she saw a man who looked like Erryk walking toward the castle. Rather than get on a boat and head somewhere away from Westeros, she warned Rhaenyra’s guard. Erryk got to Arryk before he could kill Rhaenyra, and they fought to the death.

One brother killed the other and then killed himself.

Rhaenys and Meleys

Yes, again, two characters in one. They both died at the same time, and they were bonded to each other, which means they’re one for this purpose.

Rhaenys knew that a fight against Vhagar was likely to end in death, but she went back for the attack anyway. Meleys could have stood more of a chance had Vhagar not done a sneak attack, crushing Meleys’s neck while thousands of feet in the air. As Rhaenys watched Meleys die, she knew there was no hope for her.

The two crashed to the ground at Rook’s Rest. Meleys’s head was dragged through the streets of King’s Landing to the disgust and shock of the smallfolk. Rhaenys was presumably burned to a crisp in the dragonfire explosion that happened.

Lord Blackwood

In House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 7, Daemon’s vision storyline seemed to finally come to an end. Oscar Tully had taken over as lord of his house, and he made it clear that he would honor the oath to Rhaenyra that his father had made. However, it came with a catch.

Oscar didn’t agree with everything House Blackwood did to House Bracken. Lord Blackwood had to answer for his crimes, and Daemon was the one who needed to serve that justice. If Daemon didn’t, the River lords wouldn’t follow him.

So, Lord Blackwood was executed. He won’t be back, but there’s sure to be another lord to take his place. That’s the way it works.
