With news that Benedict is going to be the lead for Bridgerton Season 4, it meant eyes were on who would play Sophie Beckett. It looks like the series has found its female lead for the season in Halo star Yerin Ha.
Variety says that sources close to the star have confirmed that Ha will play the role in the fourth season. However, it’s worth noting that Netflix and Shondaland did not respond with comments. It’s unlikely that this is a rumor at this point, though.
Who is Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton Season 4?
Sophie appears in the third of the Bridgerton books. She is the illegitimate daughter of an earl, who ends up becoming a servant after the death of said father. After all, illegitimate children didn’t get to inherit anything back in those days.
Sophie had been raised by her maternal grandmother, as her mother died in childbirth. Her father didn’t know about her at first—her mother was his maid, who he had an affair with—and he was shocked when she was dropped off on the steps of his home when she was just three. Sophie was then raised by the other servants, and she always viewed them as her family.
It’s a Cinderella story of sorts. Sophie has to serve her stepmother and two stepsisters. She is only at Lady Bridgerton’s Masquerade Ball to take some time out, and she appears in disguise. Benedict falls in love with the woman behind the mask.
Where have you seen Yerin Ha before?
Most fans will recognize Ha as Kwan Ha in both seasons of Halo, which was the Paramount+ series loosely based on the video games of the same name.
She has also starred in Reef Break, Bad Behaviour, and Troppo, three Australian shows. However, she has a show coming up. She is part of the Dune: Prophecy cast, which is set to air in November on Max.
