Did Ben get back home in the Quantum Leap Season 2 finale?

During the Quantum Leap Season 2 two-hour finale, Hannah worked out the code to help get Ben back home. Did it happen, though?

Ian certainly had some hope for Ben to get back. He did point out, though, that the code was a switch code. That meant someone else had to leap to bring Ben back. Of course, Addison offered to do that. She was always supposed to be the leaper, anyway.

We saw her take the leap at the very end of the finale. Did that lead to Ben waking up in the leap chamber?

Ben and Addison are stuck leaping in Quantum Leap

As Addison headed to the past, she saw Ben across from her. It looks like they’re in some World War II setting, with people around them running for their safety. Addison was dressed for the time, which led to us knowing that she had leaped.

However, Ben was still there. As the two ran toward each other and embraced, Ben realized what Addison had done. Addison also realized that Ben was still there.

The code hadn’t worked. Ben and Addison hadn’t swapped places. It’s clear that we need Quantum Leap Season 3 so that the team can figure things out as now they have two people to get back to their own time.

Will Jeffrey and Hannah be able to figure it out?

The Quantum Leap Season 2 finale also brought us the reveal that Jeffrey was the one behind the attempts to shut down the program. He wanted to take over it himself so that he could make changes to various points in the timeline. In the end, Ben was able to encourage Jeffrey to work with the program and save people, leading to a change to the timeline and Jeffrey becoming a major donor.

We don’t yet know what happened to Hannah. We’re assuming that she died of old age, but there is a chance that she’s still alive out there or the timeline changed something and that she’s alive. Even if not, we could still see Hannah appear in the past at some point, giving Hannah and Addison a chance to actually met in person.

This could open the door for Hannah and Jeffrey to work with the Quantum Leap team to figure out the problem with the code and find a way to get the leapers back to their own time.
