HBO gives a somewhat exciting update about a new Game of Thrones prequel spin-off

If you’re ready for another Game of Thrones prequel, HBO offered some good news. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is still in the works.

In fact, there’s an update on when we can expect it. While it’s not going to happen this year, we are likely to see it in 2025. That should help between the break of House of the Dragon, as Season 3 likely won’t arrive until 2026.

According to TVLine, we can expect the latest Game of Thrones prequel spin-off to happen in “late 2025.”

What to expect in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight

The prequel series takes place around a century before the events of Game of Thrones. Keep in mind that House of the Dragon takes place around 200 years before the events. So, we’re looking at something in between the two shows.

We follow Ser Duncan the Tall, a knight who is known as Dunk. He and his squire, Egg, travel Westeros in an attempt to help people. Dunk is courageous but naïve, which will certainly make things interesting on the roads of Westeros.

There are plenty of people willing to exploit weaknesses. Will they be able to get the better of these two unlikely heroes?

This is set at a time when the Targaryens are still in power. The dragons are still very much alive and well, and there are still many great destinies ahead for all.

So far, this is the only other Game of Thrones spin-off officially in the works. There are still talks of one that follows Jon Snow after the events of Game of Thrones, but nothing is greenlit fully just yet. Of course, the world of George R.R. Martin is vast and the Game of Thrones series finale left some storylines open to follow individual characters. We would love to see what is west of Westeros.
