If there’s a show that we are all waiting for, it’s the return of Outlander. We know that Outlander season 8 is happening, but there is some bad news. It’s not happening in March 2025.
It shouldn’t be surprising to most fans that we won’t get new episodes in March. Outlander season 7 only just recently came to an end, and that means we enter Droughtlander. All eyes are on when we’ll get to see the new season of the series.
Outlander season 8 likely won’t arrive in 2025
We’re not expecting Outlander season 8 to arrive in 2025 at all. This is simply a pattern with STARZ. We’re used to having to wait more than a year for the show to arrive.
It may not be the long Droughtlander that we’re used to, though. There have been a couple of years between Droughtlanders in the past, although some of those waits couldn’t be helped due to the pandemic and filming complications.
Outlander season 8 has already filmed and is currently in post-production. That could mean the episodes are ready by the end of this year, but STARZ will likely want to wait until 2026. After all, this is the final season and there is something else to look forward to within the universe this year.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will arrive in 2025
In some exciting news, there is a prequel series on its way. The prequel series will cover two timelines, following the love stories of Jamie’s parents, Brian and Ellen, and Claire’s parents, Henry and Julia. There are some rumors that we’ll get some time travel as well. After all, one of Claire’s parents has the gene to time travel, right?
As of right now, we know that Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere in summer 2025. This could be as early as June, matching one of the release dates of a season of Outlander in recent years. I do want to put it out there that Outlander premiered on Aug. 9, 2014. While it’s not possible for Blood of My Blood to premiere on Aug. 9, 2025 as it’s a Saturday, we could see it arrive on Friday, Aug. 8 to get close to the premiere of the OG series.
We’re ready for anything in the Outlander universe in 2025.
