Le Comte St. Germain continues to show just how creepy he has become over the years in The Space Between Section 24. We learn more about his involvement with women in this chapter.

He has a fascination with creating children right now, and we see that again with his interaction with Madeleine. We also get to find out her age, and it leads to a fear for Le Comte St. Germain.

Breaking down The Space Between Section 24

Everything with Le Comte St. Germain is just odd and creepy. However, the more I think about it, the more I’m not surprised. This is a man who pretty much died and was revived in some way. He’s learned that he can travel through time, and he has learned things about magic and the world that so many would only dream of learning. Is it all that surprising then that he’s turned out to be weird and dangerous?

This section sees him with Madeleine, as he thinks about the baby in her “red” womb. There is a focus on her being “red,” and there is a focus on auras when it comes to time travelers. Is it possible that Madeleine is also a time traveler?

We learn that Le Comte uses sexual magic to create babies. At least, that’s what happened with this one, and Madeleine is worried. She’s heard the stories of Le Comte using the blood of newborn babies in his spells. Le Comte shares that he only uses the urine of infant boys, helping to calm her down. He makes it clear that when she is definitely pregnant, he will buy her contract and get her a house. It’s the lure of this that keeps Madeleine sticking around.

As Le Comte thinks about the magic and how most men will only want children for inheritance purposes, he also thinks about Melisande. Suddenly, he thinks that Madeleine could be his daughter. When she shares that she is just 18, he initially calms, but then he realizes that she could be his granddaughter.

This is something that the story will need to come back to. Le Comte can’t keep thinking about it as he needs to be at Notre dame Square by midnight, summoned by Maitre Grenouille.

Could this chapter be used in a TV adaptation?

The section is definitely needed if the story is ever adapted. This part continues Le Comte’s mindset and story. We get to see what he’s learned about the world of time travel, while also thinking about how he could end up interacting with people connected to his past. It’s a tricky party of time travel that Outlander hasn’t overly focused on throughout the years.

The problem is that most of this is internalized. We’d need to see him mutter something about daughters and granddaughters to know what he’s thinking while with Madeleine.
