As we come to the end of another book in our Outlander Book Club read-through, it means we look at what’s next. We’re closing in on the end of the Outlander short stories, but there is still some time. We move onto the next short story in Seven Stones to Stand or Fall.
Our read-through of The Space Between will continue to be available on the website, so don’t worry if you haven’t finished it just yet. However, we do need to continue diving into the world of Outlander. As we’ve already worked through the Lord John Grey novels, we’ll skip over A Plague of Zombies from the collection of short stories.
Moving onto A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows
The next story in the collection is A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows. The short story was originally published in Songs of Love and Death: All-Original Tales of Star-Crossed Love in November 2010, but it was then put into the collection that is all Outlander stories.
This one is going to be for those who love the MacKenzie family. We met Jerry MacKenzie in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, learning that Roger’s father hadn’t died during world War II like everyone believed. He had gone through a set of standing stones, landing in 1739.
Now we get a story that Roger never knew of his parents. It’s a chance to learn more about how he went missing, and the events that happened after he returned. There were always questions from Roger about whether he managed to get his dad back to his own time considering he had no fresh memories of the man, and it turns out that that’s because the memories were already there without Roger knowing.
When will we start the next Outlander story?
We’re going to take the week off from reading through the story. I want to make sure people have time to catch up on The Space Between and get ready for A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows.
This is a relatively short novella, so it won’t take much more than a couple of weeks to work through the sections. Get ready for Monday, May 5 to start this short story.
