Sundays are all about health care, babies, and new moms with Call the Midwife. At least, that’s the way it has been for the last eight weeks, and now we’re ending another weekend ready for a new episode. This is where we have some bad news.
Sadly, there isn’t going to be a new episode of Call the Midwife season 14 tonight, Sunday, May 25. In some good news, there will be more to come, but we need to wait for the release of those episodes. And we’re not quite sure how long the wait will be.
Why isn’t there a new episode of Call the Midwife on tonight?
The period drama is off for a very understandable reason. The episode that aired on Sunday, May 18 was the season finale. It’s why it felt like such a big episode with Nancy getting married (well, she was supposed to!) and Sister Catherine taking her first vows.
That’s why it also ended with such a worrying cliffhanger. Sister Julienne is worried about what is to come for Nonnatus House as the Order is slowly diminishing. This could hint the end of the series is coming, but we do have some good news.

Call the Midwife season 15 and 16 are happening
Back in 2023, the BBC, which is the original broadcaster of Call the Midwifein the UK, announced that there would be a 15th season. This season was announced at the same time as the one we just got, which did make it seem like it could be the final season. That’s often why two seasons are ordered back-to-back.
However, some excellent news arrived this month. Call the Midwife season 16 is also going to be happening, making it clear that we’re getting closer to the mid-1970s in Poplar. There will also be a movie, taking the people of Poplar to a new location in 1972 to test their skills outside of their home comforts.
Season 15 is expected to arrive in the spring, so we do have a bit of a wait to come. However, there will be a Christmas special, which is going to be a two-part special this time. That will air in December, as usual.
So, while it is initially bad news tonight, there’s a lot of good to come.
Call the Midwife is available to stream on PBS Masterpiece.
