We close in on the Marie Antoinette season 2 finale, and it brings a devastating nightmare for our titular queen. It's not like she doesn't have enough to contend with at this point.
Part of the devastation for Antoinette is that we know how the story ends. She can't win back the love of the people, with so many people working on slandering her name. Sure, she's not perfect, but in a lot of cases, she has believed the wrong people and been wronged by those jealous of her.
In Marie Antoinette season 2, episode 7, she faced another heartbreaking loss, with the death of her new infant daughter. This is sure to play on her mind, likely contributing to the heartbreaking nightmare.

The Marie Antoinette season 2 finale will include a dream for Antoinette. At first, it looks like a magical dream. There is snow in the palace, and Antoinette is happy about it. Sometimes, the snow can bring a sense of nostalgia and fun, but it soon takes a dark turn.
As Antoinette walks around the room, she sees that many around her have succumbed to the cold. Her children and husband are dead, leaving her alone.

What to expect in Marie Antoinette season 2, episode 8
The final episode of the season is titled "The End of the Beginning," which notes that Antoinette and Louis have lost the support of the people completely. At one point, they were beloved by the people of France, and then the winter hit and people became hungry.
The revolution is starting, with Orleans and Felicite working on ralling the people against the Crown. Antoinette is so busy trying to support Louis and Louis is struggling so much with his delusions that it's leading to everyone turning against them. Even if there wasn't a revolution happening, the Parliament would end up turning against them and putting Provence in place.
At the end of episode 7, Necker shared that the Estates General would be able to push through the tax reforms needed to bring France back out of debt. Of course, the Estates General hasn't been called in more than 100 years, so nobody in Parliament is going to take well to this.
Marie Antoinette airs on Sundays at 10/9c on PBS.
