Who would have thought that Marsali would have become such a beloved character in the world of Outlander when she was first introduced? Okay, any book reader did, but it’s always hard for a character to become likable when she’s initially a bit of a brat.
Lauren Lyle certainly made Marsali her own, bringing both her own punch but bringing to life the woman we came to know in the books. She was there at Outlander: Blood of My Blood: The Gathering to help tease the new series, where she had a chance to talk about what being part of Outlander has meant to her.

The profound lesson to learn being part of Outlander
As ClaireandJamie.com reported, Outlander: Blood of My Blood: The Gathering, took place on World Outlander Day. The cast of the new series was joined by Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Lauren Lyle, and others from the original series, as it brought a sense of passing on the baton. After all, Outlander season 8 will be the end of the series, and we’re already getting excited about that.
Lyle talked about what being part of this series has meant to her, and she talked about meeting fans of the series. Many will know that she attends multiple conventions, including Sasnak City’s The Gathering, giving her a chance to get to know some of the fans of the series and hearing about what the show (and the books) have meant to them.
As Lyle first met some of the fans, she learned that the series had helped them through grief and other important moments of their lives. It made her realize that this show was more than just a job for her; she was part of something much more meaningful.
"And I think it was quite profound to learn that you're a part of something that is as meaningful as that."

Passing the torch to Outlander: Blood of My Blood
After sharing her experience, she told the cast of the prequel series that she hopes they have a similar experience. She went on to share how grateful she is of the series, but also how it’s unique.
"I think it's a really special and also a very unique anomaly to be a part of. So I don't know, I'm extremely grateful."
There are a lot of shows out there that help to connect to people. Storylines on show can help to connect to the events people are going through in their everyday life, and that’s one of the reasons I hate some of the comments made to the writing of the show, such as those saying “Claire is stronger than that” when it came to the ether arc. We have no idea what people are going through, and this show can be a lifeline or a window into people’s lives.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Friday, Aug. 8 on STARZ. Outlander season 8 will premiere later on STARZ (likely in 2026).
