Can't get enough of Downton Abbey? Wondering how you'll cope after the final film's release? Well, NBC is going to provide fans with some more content to assuage our aching hearts. The special Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale will premiere on NBC on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and on Peacock the next day.
The third and final film, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, is set to release in theaters on Friday, Sept. 12. Just two days before that, this special will show much of the cast reuniting and sharing memories of their time creating the series and the films. The special even promises some "never-before-heard stories" by the cast and crew.
The one-hour special will feature cast members from upstairs, including Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, and Michelle Dockery, as well as those from downstairs, such as Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, Phyllis Logan, and Lesley Nicol. Among the many other cast featured are some of the crew who worked on the series. Production designer Donal Woods, costume designer Anna Mary Scott Robbins, and composer John Lunn also return to share their behind-the-scenes stories.

A farewell celebration for Downton Abbey
As a theater kid in high school, my favorite part of the experience was sharing those memories and stories with my fellow castmates. And with Downton Abbey beginning back in 2010, that is fifteen years of memories the cast has together. The bonds these actors have created can sometimes be stronger than family, so it is only right that they should give Downton a proper send-off. Plus, this gives fans a chance to feel like they are a part of the celebration.
This special gives fans a bit more closure before the final film because it allows us all to say farewell to our favorite characters, along with the cast and crew. Knowing that the Downton Abbey series and the first two films will be coming to Peacock on September 1 doesn't hurt either. We can cry and laugh along with the cast in this special, and then revisit our favorite episodes.
While Downton Abbey may be coming to an end, we are able to take this look back on all the elegance, drama, romance, and mischief through Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale. Thanks to NBC and Peacock, we can keep a part of this beloved world in our hearts, and have a farewell to remember.
