Bridgerton production has given fans plenty of ‘tea’ to chat about while anxiously waiting for the next season — from leaked season 4 premiere dates, new cast announcements, and the confirmation of a season 5 and 6 renewal. It now appears that things are moving right along for the ‘ton, leaving fans more hopeful than ever that the wait has been worth it.

Just when we thought the Bridgerton updates had come to an end for the year, What’s on Netflix reported that Bridgerton season 5 production has been confirmed for March 2026. While the date is tentative, it also hints at a potential release date for season 5 episodes (yes we’re already thinking ahead!).

A recap of Bridgerton production timelines

If fans had their way, we’d get a new season of Bridgerton every few months! While production is clearly moving as quickly as they can, we can’t help but wonder what the future of the next few seasons will look like. Will history repeat itself with the turnaround time between production and season premieres?

Let’s take a look at the most recently aired season: Netflix slyly announced the Bridgerton season 3 production in a YouTube video in July 2022, yielding an almost two-year wait for the season 3 premiere, which took place in May of 2024.

There was a similar video on YouTube for season 4, but it was announcing the wrapping of production rather than the beginning of production. Season 4 wrapped in June 2025, leaving much speculation as to when to expect the season premiere. Lucky for fans, not too much time will have passed between the wrapping of production and the release of Bridgerton season 4, based on the novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, set to premiere on Jan. 29, 2026.

Now that we have a likely season 5 production date, we can start doing some simple math to figure out when Bridgerton season 5 might premiere. According to What’s on Netflix, the timespan between the end of production and the season premiere is as follows: 10 months for season 1, four months for season 2, and 14 months for season 3.

The wait time for season 4 has only been about seven months since the June announcement that the season had wrapped. While production for season 5 could pause or get interrupted for a number of unforeseen circumstances, if all goes as planned, the odds are looking good for season 5 to hit our screens just in time for a lovely spring watch party in 2027.

While we’re at it, since we know there is a season 6 renewal, we can also assume we’ll see the Bridgerton season 6 premiere by summer 2028. It’s safe to say that if there is Bridgerton tea to be spilled, the gentle readers will sniff it out with the utmost care!

Which novel will Bridgerton season 5 cover?

For the most part, the Bridgerton Netflix series has followed the order of the books, with the exception of swapping books 3 and 4 — and I think there was good reason! While Julia Quinn originally wrote An Offer from a Gentleman to come third in the series, in the show, viewers get a glimpse of the eldest brother, Benedict’s, struggle with emotional attachment and monogamy before getting his full love story as a separate season.

Production scored a win by taking the time to build Benedict’s character arc, while allowing Penelope’s story to get the attention it deserved, just as she was breaking out of her shell and coming into her true self. There’s also something relatable about the oldest sibling going on to make mistakes and live freely in a way that both cautions and inspires the younger siblings to take control of their own narratives.

What’s on Netflix also reports that Bridgerton season 5 will confirm our suspicions that the books will continue in order, covering Eloise’s journey to love. Eloise’s story is one I look forward to most because she is the sibling who has consistently gone against the grain and not been afraid to challenge the social code of the era. Fans should be prepared for her love story to have a unique spin on it!
