Bridgerton fans around the world are anxiously waiting for the upcoming release of season 4, part 2. With the newly released trailer, fans get some reprieve, but the producers weren’t too generous with what they’re giving away! We also get a little preview at the end of part 1, so catch up in those final moments if you missed it!
In the meantime, Bridgerton is keeping fans at the edge of our drawing room seats with how Benedict and Sophie professed their love…and then plummeted to an embarrassing finale. Benedict thought the solution to his problem—being in love with a maid—would simply go away if he asked her to be his mistress. Simply stated, if they can’t marry, they can still be together in a more…scandalous way.
Bridgerton season 4, part 2 trailer hints at a tough decision for Benedict
With just a few episodes left in the season, fans only get one minute and fifty seconds of clips to feed our impatience until part 2 drops! Here’s what we do know: Benedict is up against problems much bigger than just finding a wife. At the beginning of the trailer, he says, “How else am I supposed to be with a woman society’s made it impossible to be with?”. Uhh, not by asking her to be your mistress!
This lets us in on the fact that Benedict’s family and the rest of the ton will not look favorably on Benedict asking Sophie’s hand in marriage. Not only would Benedict ruin he and Sophie’s reputation, but he would also bring slander to the entire Bridgerton name by marrying someone of a lower social class— especially that much lower.

If you’ve read the books, you know that Violet was open to Benedict marrying someone of a lower class within reason, but she made it clear that marrying a maid would be impossible by society’s standards. Shonda Rhimes, producer of the Bridgerton series, has made a commendable effort to bring diversity and representation to the show in a way that honors modern society. Yet, Rhimes expertly maintains Julia Quinn’s social commentary in the novels by staying true to the stigmas and expectations of the historic time period.
It is clear that Benedict will find himself at a crossroads of duty to family and duty to self in season 4, part 2. How he manages that crossroads is still yet to be seen, especially since Sophie refuses his original offer to become his mistress. Based on the trailer, fans will also get some resolution for the other romances of the season: Francesca and John, and Violet and Sir Marcus. We also haven’t seen the last of Michaela! This hints at a brewing romance for Quinn’s novel, When He Was Wicked.
Bridgerton season 4, part 2 streams on Netflix on Thursday, February 26.
