There is still plenty to come in the world of Outlander. There’s still one more episode of season 7 left, and we have the whole of season 8. That means time for a few more book storylines to come. One of those we’re curious about is whether Brianna and Brian will get to meet.
Caution: We’re delving into spoilers from Written in My Own Heart’s Blood
In Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, Bree and Brian cross paths. After heading through the stones to get to Roger, Bree and the children end up in 1739. They head to Lallybroch, knowing from Roger’s letter that that’s where he is.
This is when Bree and Brian meet. Naturally, Brian faints upon seeing Brianna.
Brian is sure that Ellen is back from the dead in the Outlander books
It’s a bittersweet moment for Brian Fraser as he sees Ellen. For the longest time, we’ve learned that Brianna looks a lot like Ellen MacKenzie Fraser. Jamie notes it, and others have, too. So, is it that surprising that when Brian initially sees Brianna, he thinks of his wife?
He is sure that the ghost of his wife is back. And if I remember the books correctly, he believes that Jem may be his son Willie—there’s so much that goes on in the books, that I can’t recall everything clearly. I have only read Written in My Own Heart’s Blood twice!

Will Brianna meet Brian in Outlander season 7?
What are the chances of the series bringing us this moment? While it isn’t important for the overall story, I do think that it’s a great moment that the show should offer. Again, we keep hearing about how much Bree looks like her grandmother. To have her grandfather—a man she never expected to meet—believe that she is his dead wife helps to bring all the comments together.
I also think it’s important considering other family members who have shown up this season. Buck met his parents, and Roger met his dad. Wouldn’t it be great to have Brianna meet her grandfather?
Now it’s all whether there is enough time. I think there should be in the Outlander season 7 finale. However, I’m not the one who wrote it! This is a storyline I would have kept in, though.
