A new episode of Outlander: Blood of My Blood is almost here, and it’s time to break down the promotional material. There’s a lot going on when it comes to Henry and Julia.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 4 will see Henry continue his search for Julia. He knows that she is in the past somewhere, and he is doing everything he can to find her. However, he also has duties that he needs to do, as he is the bladier for the Grants.
Meanwhile, Julia will find herself with some hope of escape. Up to this point, she’s tried to get out of Castle Leathers, but it’s ended in failure each time. Just as she has resigned herself to her fate, Brian may have a way out for her.
Check out the promo and synopsis for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 4 before we get into the breakdown.
"Henry tackles a challenging assignment in his own way. Ellen learns some concerning information about the family into which she’s expected to marry."
Henry may be starting to lose hope in Blood of My Blood
The promo opens with Henry asking about the feeling of hope. It looks like he is losing hope of finding Julia. Has Una found someone who fits his description of Julia, only for his heart to be broken once more?
It’s understandable that he’s starting to lose hope. He knows that Julia has to be somewhere in the Highlands due to the message she left on the boulder. However, so far, his mission has failed.

Julia has a chance of escape
Brian needs Julia’s help with something. This is likely linked to Ellen MacKenzie, as we know that eventually, Juia and Ellen’s paths will cross. In fact, Julia is going to suggest to Ellen that she follows her heart, and this is all sure to lead up to it.
Julia now realizes that she has a chance of escape. If she helps Brian with his needs, he will help her get out. However, Julia has no idea that Henry is in the past, which means she’s likely to head to the stones. If she has worked out that is where she travelled through time.
Ellen has worked out a flaw in Colum’s plan in Outlander: Blood of My Blood
It’s clear that Colum wants Ellen to marry into the Grants for an ulterior motive. He likely wants her to spy on the Grants as she marries into the family. However, he of all people should know what marriage means.
Ellen points out that once she marries, she becomes part of Clan Grant. Colum will lose her loyalty, and is that something he’s willing to do?

Henry faces trouble in the Grant lands
It looks like Henry is being set up to fail. He needs to collect the rent, and we know what that can be like for those going out. In Outlander, we saw that Dougal would head out with Ned and a group of others to help get around all of MacKenzie land, and there were issues with payment.
Do we really think that Henry is going to be able to manage it? He has to if he doesn’t want his head on a pike, but I get a sense that this is aimed at him failing.
Arch Bug isn’t willing to help
The show has certainly given us a young Arch Bug who is believable. We know Arch has a grumpy old man who thinks that he is deserved of things because of what he went through leading up to Culloden and after it. Now we get to meet the younger version, and there’s not that much that is different in him.
He isn’t willing to help Henry collect the rents. He won’t like Henry as a Sassenach, anyway, and he’s sure not to like the way the man is always looking for Julia. I get a sense that he wants Henry to fail.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood airs on Fridays on STARZ.
