As Roger and Buck set off to the stones, they got a surprise they weren’t expecting. Bree and the children turned up in the Outlander season 7 finale.
It was a moment we’d waited all season for. After being separated in the season 7A finale, Bree and the children heading to 1739 to find Roger. They reunited at Lallybroch, leading to some excellent Roger moments. It’s time to look back at the Outlander season 7 finale to break down Roger’s top moments from it.
His reaction to seeing Jemmy
Of course, when Jemmy initially ran out of the fog, Roger and Buck believed that he was on his own. Maybe Jemmy had come through the stones to 1739 after all. It was why Buck was going to head to 1980, so that he could pass the message onto Brianna to get her and Mandy into the past to the right time.
Roger’s reaction to seeing Jemmy was perfect. As a parent, you don’t know whether to smother the missing child with love or get angry that they’ve been missing for so long. It’s that whirlwind of emotions as you deal with the relief that they’ve been found.

“Brianna!”
After learning that Jem had been with Mandy the whole time, Roger was understandably confused. To be fair, Jemmy was also confused at why Roger was asking where he’d been the whole time. There’s a lot to catch up on.
However, as Bree and Mandy came through the fog, Roger had another moment that stands out. As he yelled “Brianna,” he had this look of pure joy. There was relief and love as he ran to his wife and daughter. This was just the reunion that we expected to see.
Deciding “when” to go
Brianna and Roger catch up on everything that happened. Roger wants to kill Rob Cameron for everything that happened, and at claireandjamie.com, we can't blame him, but there is a more important conversation to have. Should they return to 1980? It’s not safe there, and Rob will try everything he can to get Jemmy and the gold.
So, Roger makes it clear that it doesn’t matter where they are. As long as they are all together, it is all about “when” they should be. For the longest time, Roger didn’t feel like he fit in when in the past, but this has become the time period that suits him the most. It’s clear that he is ready to return to 1778 with Brianna and the kids.
