After sending his dad back to his own time, Roger had to figure out what to do next in Outlander season 7, episode 15. It’s time to look back at his top moments from the episode.
This episode could have been a bit of a filler for Roger and Buck. After all, there’s not much for them to do except figure out the best place to go now they realize that Jemmy probably isn’t in the past. Instead, the show found a way to add some heart and push Roger’s story forward to reuniting with Brianna.
Telling Buck about his parents in Outlander season 7, episode 15
Roger could have continued to keep the truth about Geillis and Dougal to himself when Buck brought his biological parents again. He could have just lied and gone on with the idea that Buck’s biological father was a time traveler. Instead, Roger did the right thing in the moment.
I still stand by Roger not saying anything at Geillis’s house. I’m just glad that he eventually shared the truth, giving Buck time to sit with the fact that he’s now met his biological parents. Buck got something similar to Roger, meeting parents without being able to say who they really are.
“Hello, the House.”
Okay, so this line came too early in the series compared to the book, but I do like the timing of it. Roger and Buck head back to Lallybroch, where Brian Fraser is outside. Considering the connection between Roger and Brian—even though Brian doesn’t know—shouting out “Hello, the House” was a great touch. It also helps that Brian has a look of a younger Jamie in the white shirt and tartan.
I had wondered if we’d get to see Brian Fraser again, so bringing him back in this way was perfect. It also connects us to how Roger is going to get a message to Brianna as he thinks about how time travel may or may not work.
Sending Brianna a note in Outlander
Roger finds a way to get a note to Brianna. He can leave the note in the desk in Lallybroch. After all, that desk is still there in 1980.
I do think simply throwing the letter into the drawer is a bit dumb. It would have been better for it to be tucked in somehow, making it only possible for Brianna to find it. Of course, Roger had no idea that Bree would know to look at something faulty in the drawer—and actually, this could be been foreshadowed so much better with something catching on a drawer and Bree finally deciding to fix it.
I digress, though. Having Roger find a way to get a note to Bree shows that he’s thinking about the rules of time travel and how to get his family back together.
