A lot happened in the Outlander season 7 finale. It brought us heartbreak but also hope. At claireandjamie.com, we like to take a look inside the episode at Jamie’s top moments, so let's do it!

This episode started with Jamie fearing for his wife’s life. At the end, it brought us some hope and a surprise twist that many wouldn’t have seen coming. Jamie also got a chance to offer help to his son in more ways than William asked for.

We’re taking a look back at Jamie’s top three moments from the episode. This wasn’t easy to break down!

Taking the candle over to Claire

While the start of the episode focused on Jamie worrying over Claire, she survived the gunshot and pronounced that she had decided not to die. She wasn’t out of harm’s way just yet, though. After relieving herself, she shared that she wanted to look at the urine in the light to see if there was blood in it. If there was, it would indicate something wrong with her kidney.

Jamie knows Claire well enough to know that she would spend the whole night fretting over it. It’s natural, right? So, rather than wait, he pulled a candle over to her so that she could look. I just adore the way he knows Claire so well. He doesn’t question things when it comes to medicine, except to see if it’s good or bad. He just knows Claire wouldn’t want to do something if it wasn’t necessary.

Helping William save Jane

After finding out where Jane was being kept, William knew that there was only one man who would be able to help save her in the Outlander season 7 finale. He needed Jamie, and of course, Jamie was going to help his son get the woman he may or may not have loved.

There were no questions about whether Jane deserved to be saved, either. He didn’t want to know why she had been arrested. All he knew was that William had come for his help, and he couldn’t turn him away. I think he knew that William wouldn’t have asked for this help if he didn’t think that Jane deserved to be saved.

Sharing more about Geneva

While it wasn’t possible to save Jane, William did realize that Jamie and Claire were the best people to protect Frances. That led to another great moment for father and son. William had a chance to ask about his conception.

Of course, Jamie wasn’t going to share all the details. He gave William something William didn’t realize he needed instead. William noted all the terms people used to describe Geneva. They were on the negative side, but that’s not the way Jamie remembers her. While Jamie didn’t love Geneva, he did think of her in some good ways, and he shared those with William.

While it didn’t quite end the way Jamie would have liked, William did seem grateful that Jamie looked at his mother in ways that nobody else did. I think it made it clear to William that he wasn’t a product of rape. He wasn’t a product of love either, but he can rest easy knowing that his father didn’t rape his mother.
